A picosecond laser is a laser with a pulse duration (pulse width) of each laser emission reaching the picosecond level.

According to the principle of selective photothermolysis, the shorter the action time of the laser, the less the laser energy absorbed in the target tissue is diffused to the surrounding tissue, and the energy is limited to the target to be treated, and the surrounding area is protected.
